Networking
For many this is now the backbone of everyday life for most of us, from entertainment to homework from bedroom to office, networking and Wi-Fi has become so important. Your network can be even more critical if your home automation, home theatre or multi room audio relies on the network. If you want better networking or just want to get your networking and Wi-Fi issues solved – give us a call now. Normally a well-designed and stable network will eliminate all of the problems you were experiencing.
Here is what happens: If you have some issues with your network, often the response of your service provider is to change your router. This however can cause even more issues. Why is this? Well, your home has its own network “range” for example it may have started with something like “192.168…etc” or it could be something like “10.1.1..etc”. Now some of your devices may be relying on this staying the same. BUT your ISP just sent you a new router or you have just changed ISP’s and no one bothered to ask you what your last router was set to! So, your new one could be different, and this can bring things to a grinding halt.
If you have changed service providers or just changed router and no one is helping you, call us. We can assist and make sure everything is set up correctly.
The best way to set up your home is with hard wiring and not Wi-Fi. However, this can mean you have more cables than you have “sockets” on your router. In this case you need a decent network switch. A device that all your cables come to and that then also connects to your router. This can speed up your network, make things more secure (than wifi) and create a nice robust system. However, there are right and wrong ways to ago about this. Often, we will see small switches connected to more switches all around a house. This is not a good idea if it can be at all avoided.
For guidance and advice on setting up a network properly Techni-call can give you all the help you need.
Getting your system running well can be a hassle and there is a lot more to this than people realise. Many people don’t know there are multiple Wi-Fi channels, you could be on the same channel as your neighbours which means your Wi-Fi is fighting to be “heard” through all this “noise”. You can also manage your Wi-Fi devices to better access your Wi-Fi and create “dedicated” Wi-Fi for fussy devices. On top of this many people keep adding Wi-Fi extenders or mesh devices that can cause more problems than they cure. Some brands would like you to think that by just adding their products your proiblems will ago away. But suddenly things start behaving strangely. Get your system designed and set up correctly once and for all and all these headaches go away!
